I'm thinking, maybe the reason I never post anymore is because I hardly drink anymore. I'm so much more reflective when I am drunk. Also, mmmmm, brandy.

Just a quick entry to say that Audrey Olivia was born healthy and with red hair on 18 June. We are taking four days to move as of today, but hopefully after that I may be able to establish some semblance of a routine. Unless I have been dragged off to jail for killing my MIL...

Hoping to somewhat mitigate the impression I made on Flaggy with my confession of 1978 love for Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights, a little vignette regarding a recent moment of nostalgia.

We were recently watching the 25th anniversary of Rage special (Rage is a tv music institution in Australia which to fully describe would be too great a tangent for the purpose of this post) which began with AC/DC's It's a Long Way to the Top. There are three layers of nostalgia here: 1), it's Rage. I miss Rage. 2) Childhood memories of my brothers' obsession with AC/DC in the seventies, right down to the jailbreak pajamas. 3) Those are the streets of Melbourne, long before all the major works to make it look like another city. Ah, the Gas & Fuel building, ugly as ever!

The fact that this new house is nothing but a series of extra costs is one thing. But trying to explain to the building site manager today that there was no way in hell we were ever going to pay an extra 700 euros to get a built-in DOOR MAT installed inside the front door was fun today. Doesn't matter how "premium" or "high quality" it is. IT'S A BLOODY DOOR MAT!

The tiles underneath are what we ordered. The tile on top is what they delivered. Spot the difference.



Edit: No, they have definitely delivered the wrong tiles. Can be rectified by Monday, at least.
